Fantine has three different dresses in the show. The first time you see her she is wearing her regular dress that you will see during I Dreamed a Dream. At the factory she is also wearing a bonnet, which hides her long, beautiful hair.

When she becomes a prostitute, she is still (meant to be) wearing her regular dress, all torn apart. It reveals her stockings and petticoat. Her sleeves have dissapeared. She also wears a bonnet, like the other prostitutes. The musical actress is apparently wearing this dress under the regular dress.

When she is transferred to hospital, during Come To Me, she is wearing a simple white dress. It is a very modest dress and in sharp contrast with her previous outfit. This is also the same dress that she wears during the finale.
